The original kitchen was dated and awkwardly arranged with inadequate cabinet and counter space. Additionally, the area was cramped and felt isolated and closed off from the adjoining family gathering spaces. The newlywed clients wanted a more open kitchen that allowed them to cook together and had a better flow for entertaining. The small space was opened up by piercing the existing wall between the kitchen and great room. More cabinet and counter space were created by removing the exterior door and window, and an island was added which allowed for counter seating and extra storage and prep area.
